HISTORY OF OLYMPICS Every Two years, Athletes from Around the world gather to compete in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The first known Olympics were started in 776 B.C. At a site called 'Olympia' in Southern Greece. The Olympics was a Religious Evet. Athletes competed to Honour Zeus,The king of the Ancient Greek God. But during 776 B.C. Olympics ,only men's were allowed to compete in the original Olympics. There was a another smaller festival for female Athletes and women Olympics dedicated to zeu's consort hera. Roman Empire conquered Greece in mid-2nd century B.C. The Games continued ,But their standards and quality declined.
